Kawabata first participated in the Japanese New Music Festival tour (abbreviated below as JNMF – this was a showcase tour, first proposed by Yoshida Tatsuya in 1997. The first tour consisted of Yoshida, Sasaki and Tsuyama Atsushi playing as Ruins, Akaten, Tsuyama solo, and Zubi Zuva X). Just as Kawabata joined, Sasaki left Ruins, so the tour became the trio of Yoshida, Tsuyama and Kawabata, who formed a new group called Acid Mothers Temple mode HHH as one of the cornerstones of the tour. The trio of Yoshida, Tsuyama and Kawabata had formed one group prior to this – Seikazoku, in 1996 – but this was an entirely different group to Acid Mothers Temple mode HHH.

A tour-only compilation CD entitled “Japanese New Music Festival Europe Tour 2003” was released on Magaibutsu. It included one previously released Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O. track, “The Creation of the Humanrace”, recorded during Yoshida’s tenure in the band.
